The Entrepreneur's Choice Program

Planning to become an entrepreneur? Or perhaps you already have your own growing business and want to decide which tasks to do yourself and which to give away.

The Pathfinder Entrepreneur's Choice Program is the smart way to make sure you pick the type of business that fits you best. When new businesses fail, it is usually because the owner was not prepared for the myriad tasks necessary for the successful operation of their business. It has been said that running a business is a little like being a farmer in regard to the wide variety of skills you need to bring to your job on a daily basis.

Every business is different. When entrepreneurs succeed it is usually because they picked a viable business niche, and they have picked a business that fits their individual traits and talents well. They spend their days doing work that makes best use of their natural talents, work that maximizes their strengths and minimizes time spent doing tasks that are not natural for them. New entrepreneurs usually put a great deal of energy into making sure they pick a business where the products or services are needed and wanted by the public. This is just common sense. Rarely do they put the time and energy into making sure the business really fits them: their talents, personality, expectations, goals, work style, etc.

The Entrepreneur's Choice Program was developed because many of the thousands of clients who have gone through the Pathfinder Career Choice Program have become entrepreneurs. We decided to create a similar program for those of you who have already decided to start your own business and want to choose the perfect business for you.

The program starts with our in-depth Pathfinder Career Testing Program, which you can read about elsewhere on this site. It continues through a series of consulting appointments, usually conducted by telephone for your convenience, designed to move you through a step-by-step process leading to a final decision on the type of business you will start or buy. Between sessions you have assignments that move you forward toward the final decision. We are not accountants, lawyers or financial experts so we can't help you decide if a specific business you are thinking of buying is viable or not. What we can do, however, is help you choose a business that fits you perfectly.

We know a former lead instructor at the Navy's Top Gun fighter pilot school who retired and decided to buy a temporary-employment franchise, thinking it was the perfect choice. Instead of working with gifted, gung-ho pilots who were the best in their field, he now had to deal with people who sometimes could not even be trusted to show up at their job assignments. Too late he discovered that this mattered very much to him and made his new business less than satisfying. This is the sort of thing the Entrepreneur's Choice Program helps you avoid. Just because you may be dreaming of a certain type of business does not mean it is a good choice for you. Your chances of both success and satisfaction as an entrepreneur are greatly enhanced when you pick a business that fits you like a custom-made suit.

"The tests confirmed what the book had already indicated ... I was unhappy at work because I was not doing work that suited my personality and talents. I am now in the process of starting my own small business and I really do wake up every day feeling energized and looking forward to my work. "
