“I just can’t thank you enough for the exciting changes your Career Choice Program (has) brought to my life.”
“After several years of indecision, the program empowered me to make a specific career choice.”
“I needed a 180-degree shift and the Rockport Institute turned me in the right direction.”
“I never dreamed the tests would reveal so much and provide such insight.”
“I am eagerly looking forward to doing something with my life that really feels right for me.”
“It was the first time in my life that I could see in black and white a summary of where my talents lie.”
“The testing was good for me too because all of the things I thought were my biggest flaws and keeping me from my “true career” turned out to be my biggest assets. What a relief! Now when I begin to get discouraged or float off course or out to sea, I look back at my testing and it brings it all back to me… I thank you for making a very big difference in my life and for having the commitment to make me see that I can make the difference that is so important to me.”
“The program enlightened me about so many aspects of myself that it made my career opportunities clearer to me than they have ever been before. The program made it possible to clear away all the fog that accompanied the early part of my career search and to focus on the careers that are really right for me.”
“I admit to being a little bit skeptical as I sat down to do the testing, but that quickly disappeared when we went over the results of the tests. I think in my case, the testing was helpful in eliminating careers that would never be a good fit, but for which I had unrealistic ideas. For example, I have always been almost obsessed with being outside and had often thought about a career tied to nature in some way, but it wasn’t until you explained my very high non-spatial score that I understood why it is that despite the thousands of hours I’ve spent in the woods, I can only name one or two trees. Similarly, my very high “idea flow” score explained why I always become bored with details and routines. Using these two scores as a base, we began to explore what personal and work experiences have been the most stimulating and satisfying…I strongly recommend your organization to anyone feeling like work is something they have to do rather than something they enjoy. I strongly doubt I would have made the choice without your help.”
“Before I leave the Washington, DC area for ,my new job in Chicago, I wanted to take the time to tell you how valuable an experience I found the Rockport test battery to be. You may recall that my initial motivation for taking the (test program) was the experience of my wife…She was very unsure of what it was exactly that she did want to do and be good at. The Rockport tests were extremely helpful to her, identifying what her basic abilities are, focusing her career decisions and giving her the confidence to expand her boundaries regarding her own potential.
An unexpected consequence of her test results was the insight that it gave us into our personal relationship. I have always been a rather messy person and this has always been a source of irritation for her, who always had a need for a well-ordered immediate environment. Her extremely high scores on the visual dexterity (test) provided an intellectual understanding for this difference between us, and we are now more accepting of that difference.
Intrigued by (her) results, I took the tests myself, hoping to pinpoint which aspects of my new job I should emphasize and which roles I should delegate to others. The results were helpful in this regard. My future Executive Director was in town for a meeting and I took the opportunity to sit down with her and discuss my test results. Based on the results, I stated what I needed to be happy and fulfilled in the job. She was receptive to the whole concept and said, “I think these are things we can work out.” Many of the apprehensions about going into a new position have been eliminated and I think everything will go well for me. I am so thankful that I took the Rockport (testing program). Thanks for all of your help. I recommend Rockport to many of my colleagues and friends.”
“What I learned from the…testing was that my natural abilities do not lend themselves to the work I’d been doing. It was no wonder that every day had been a struggle…I hope that news of Rockport Institute travels quickly because there are so many people out there who have settled for unsatisfying careers.”
“When it became clear from my Career Aptitude Profile that sales was not for me, I began working on a free-lance basis in computer software applications, and programming. My services quickly became in high demand, and I was able to work as much as I wished, earning top rates for my services.”
“I would like to express my thanks for your work. It has made a tremendous difference in my life…Before I went through your program my self-esteem was low because I found my job unrewarding and boring. I used to think that the problem was with the people I worked with and not the job itself. Now I realize that my personality and aptitudes are not suited for this career and that the problem is not ‘them;’ it is me. This experience has not only made me understand myself better but others as well.”
“It gave me a total new outlook.”
“Before I came to Rockport, I went to a number of career counselors and never achieved what I hoped. I am one of those people who is a ’round peg in a square hole’. Other career counselors were trying to make me fit into conventional careers and it never worked….you were able to help me to understand why I had always had difficulty in choosing a career path; that my combination of talents did not lend itself to most traditional well-paying and stable careers. You helped me make peace with my unconventionality and to see it as an asset rather than a liability.”
“I always knew when I was growing up, that inside I was genuinely great and intelligent. But, as I grew older, somehow I was never able to express it. I felt a growing sense of frustration, inability and tiredness trying to function in a world in which it seemed I should be performing well.
As a result of taking the Rockport program, I now understand the reasons for this frustration. I discovered that I did have aptitudes that were so high as to be ‘off the scale,’ what they were, what they meant and that because I had not been challenging these aptitudes enough, I was feeling continually frustrated and unsuccessful.
I also discovered that the activity I had been pursuing was requiring the use of abilities that I did not have to a high degree. No wonder I felt strained.
Now I feel a new sense of exhilaration and freedom; of much more unbounded potential for success….
Thanks very much…for helping me to know myself better.”
“It would be misleading to point exclusively to the Rockport Institute…for such a dramatic change in our lives. Nonetheless, it has had a tremendous impact upon that change, and I feel that we continue to benefit from the insights afforded by the testing results… they provide an insight into your personality and behavior style that not only influence a career choice, but apply as well for insight into relationships – – whether with job colleagues or spouse and family – – or, for me, realizations that apply to my artistic projects, or even understanding better the learning and development style of my three-year-old.”
“I realized that the problem was not that I did not want to work, but that I was not performing a job that would give me personal satisfaction. Not only did the program help me arrive at this career decision, but it also enabled me to define the type of organization and the particular job role that would allow me to feel most comfortable, most productive, and therefore, most successful.”
“One month ago, when I was considering taking the Rockport test, I was hoping for a miracle. I got one. Thank you for turning my life around.”
“This is to thank you for testing and providing consultation to seven counselors and myself…I will certainly be sending you many referrals.”
“…a major contribution to me. It helped me identify my strengths …and acknowledge and accept those areas where I was less willing and effective. Armed with this new/old information I was in a much better position to consider careers that would work for me “
“I am writing to thank you for the wonderful information I received from taking part in the Rockport Institute testing program. It was helpful both in helping me to make a career change and in finding out things about myself that had largely gone unnoticed before this time. Most of all, it gave me an overall picture of my abilities and my special needs that have to be met in order to make the best career choice.
I was so pleased with the results of the program that I convinced my husband and several friends to also take the program. All of them have been equally satisfied.”
“I plan to warmly recommend the Rockport Institute to anyone who has a desire to make a career change or improve their present employment.”
“I’ve never before written a thank you note to anyone for work they have done for me. In your case I felt it was very much appropriate. The help and advice (I got) has had such a significant impact on my life I cannot begin to thank you enough… (The testing) helped me to realize that a person can be in the correct general environment, but still be unhappy because they are not in the correct job in that environment. Your testing helps an individual to find the niche that will suit him best…I could not have gotten to this point without your help.”
“In my case, it did me a great deal of good to discover that many of my natural instincts in terms of career choice had been good all along: I just hadn’t had the self confidence to trust them and move ahead.”
